Action Film Workshop on 26 & 27 March 2011

This 2-day hands on workshop is taught by veteran action director and teacher Godfrey Ho.

The purpose of this workshop is to teach students the basics of action film making. Also he will teach you how to shoot action sequences without using a stunt coordinator. It is suitable for actors and filmmakers.

In the morning, there will be lecture and demonstrations.

In the afternoon, students will form in to groups and shoot an action sequence. After that using the footages just shot they will each edit there own versions of the sequence. The instructor will be on hand to guide the students in every step.

Prerequisite: Students must have basic knowledge of filmmaking.

Full schedule: 26 & 27 March 2011 (Saturday & Sunday) 10am to 6pm

Godfrey Ho

Your instructor Godfrey Ho, aka Godfrey Hall, is a veteran film producer and action director in Hong Kong. In the early ’70, he worked with John Woo as the assistant directors for Chang Cheh, a famous action director in Shaw Brothers Studios - the biggest film studio in Asia.
There he gained expertises, in how to direct action scenes using different camera angles and special techniques. He had directed over 40 films including Kung-fu films in the late ’70 & ’80, and kick-boxing films in the ’90.
